It is not yet exactly clear who built Eram Garden for the first time, and therefore no exact date of construction has been recorded for it. Based on some travelogue documents it can be dated back to at least the 15th or 16th century. During the reign of Naser al-Din Shah, a mansion was built in this place, and after that, the garden was in the hands of the leaders of the Qashqai tribe for 75 years. The Qashqais also built a mansion in this garden until the Pahlavi reclaimed, repaired, and donated the garden to Shiraz University. The Botanical Garden is in the possession of Shiraz School of Agriculture and the building belongs to Shiraz Law School. The mansion is considered one of the masterpieces of Qajar period. Paintings from Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh and the battle of the Qajars, tiling, and plastering, along with the tiles of the central porch, have made this three-story building even more beautiful.
