Afifabad Garden and Museum is one of the historical centers of Fars province, built during the reign of Nasreddin Shah at the request of Mirza Ali Mohammad Khan Ghavam-ol-Molk II in 1867.
Afifabad museum was opened on Army Day in 1991. The army was looking for a place to set up a military museum, and thus the country's No. 2 military museum was established in Afifabad Garden. Afifabad Museum consists of two parts: The Museum of Weapons and the Museum of Lessons, which is managed under the supervision of the ideological and political organization of the Iranian Army. In the Museum of Weapons (first floor) objects such as firearms, swords, spears, shotguns, pistols, automatic and semi-automatic weapons, helmets, rifles, machine guns, firearmss belonging to famous people such as Fath Ali Shah, Mozaffaruddin Shah, Mirza Kuchak Khan Jangali, Reza Shah and his son Mohammad Reza Shah, Ra'is Ali Delvari, Fath Ali Shah’s cannon, Reza Shah's funeral chariot, flint, etc. are kept.
Afifabad Military Museum is the largest weapons museum in the Middle East with weapons dating back to centuries ago. The second floor or the Museum of Lessons includes a luxurious hall in the center, various living rooms, conference, study, casino, reception, and a dressing room. Visiting this museum acquaints visitors with the history and background of the evolution of weapons and firearms and also some beautiful interior designs and superb tile-work.
