The art of Namad Mali has its roots in the ancient history of Iran. It’s a kind of thick fabric that is made of intricate fibers, especially fleece. Namad is the simplest type of flooring and its construction requires a special device. Namad is very popular in rural and urban areas of Bavanat and the designs and patterns of Namad in this region are among the most unique patterns in terms of variety.

Namad was used as clothing, hats, and undergarments and was produced in harsh conditions. The making of Namad in Bavanat continued traditionally and the artists and masters of Bavanat gave a new spirit to it with their powerful and artistic patterns. Namad doesn’t absorb humidity and is a very good insulation for cold and heat. It has considerable strength and lasts a long time. Work tools and raw materials for its preparation are simple, limited, and accessible. The therapeutic properties of it have been very useful for diseases such as rheumatism, which have been used since ancient times, and medical science has proven this today.
